Getting some flack about one of my recent attempts to have the site pay for itself. I have put on the Camino home page some possibilities for other sites to have a link ad. I thought that this might be of interest to some of the companies that offer packages on the Camino – however so far just two emails wondering if they are out of place.
Therefore this post. I don’t do this full time, yes I make enough money from the site every day to buy myself a coffee in Dublin! And yes I would love to make enough money from the site to do it full time – never going to happen though. I love writing about the Camino and love walking there – I do this for fun and just hope that someone else gets a tiny little bit of help out of it.
This is for me interesting. I have notice other places how the pilgrims are not well by the sell of the Camino. It seems is ok for guide books, etc., but the reflecting in books, DVD’s, etc. are not ok, well, not least not openly, if there is the price. I have also the read where posts say it is the sin!
If you can make some of the money and I get to read your site then it is not out of place! I am paying gladly for the pilgrim experience of others if they have the effort for a place for visit or to share the experience of theirs in book or DVD and it is engages to me.
I do not understand this view of the pilgrims.
Yes, I have gotten more than a “hope that someone else gets a tiny little bit of help out of it.” I now feel that maybe, just maybe, I might be able to do this even at this late age. I catch my breath every time I see your pages, the photos, the beautiful headers on this web site and it takes my breath away. It seems I have been waiting all my life.
Your ads on the pages have also helped make me think maybe I can do this pilgrimage with all the added info you’ve included. Don’t give up any money for the site; the people who wondered if it was “out of place” must not have to work for a living!
