Camino Ebook

I have been writing a travel guide for the Camino with the intension of making it an ebook, something that people can pay for on the site and download immediately.

But, my God, I am struggling. Not with the words or the writing most of that is fine. I am struggling with keeping my arse on the chair and justing doing it. It is like being back at uni and having to write an essay, everything else will get done before that and I would get a bit stressed and eventually do it as the deadline approached.

But I have no DEADLINE… There is no-one standing over me, there is no good or bad marks for this. I write a lot, but it is usually along the lines of 500 – 1000 words and that I find fairly easy, this… it hurts my head.

Don’t I know the feeling! I am reading “Illuminated Manuscripts” by John Bradley, a wonderful book, and he describes the copyists, calligraphists and illuminators as having the same problem, 500 years ago, and they weren’t even doing the original writing!

I hope you get your eBook done. You would be doing a great service to the world. This blog should actually, of course, be a great help in doing the book; the book should emerge on it’s own as you are working on this wonderful blog. I think it will. Perhaps you could do a section just for the eBook writing on the blog, and add a bit to it each day, as you do with the wonderful stories of true-life adventures and thoughts of El Camino, The Way of St. James.

For inspiration, take a look at Victor Nuno’s photos on flickr, when he recently walked the camino. He may even want to contribute here if you contacted him. He most probably would. http://www.flickr.com/photos/victornuno/
