Day 16 Fromista – Carrion de los Condes – 19km
From Fromista to the next village it is 3.5km, after here you have the choice of two routes. The first and easiest follows alongside the road, (C190) – this is a straight path to Carrion, but it does have the downside of walking along the road all day.
The second route is only marked at the start and then has no way marking until you re-join the C190 again. This path is much quieter and peaceful, it has however one major drawback during July and August – mosquitoes. This was the only time during the Camino Frances that I was bitten with mosquitoes, and my spray did not stop them.
On the second route make sure you have enough food and water from Villovieco as you will be walking along uneven paths for the rest of the day with nowhere to collect more water or food.
