Najera to Santo Domingo de la Calzada

Day 10 Najera – Santo Domingo de la Calzada 21km

The Camino Frances leaves Najera behind the Monestry of Santa Maria la Real.  The route goes up hill along a dirt track through pine tree and across farmland heading towards Azofra, the first place to stop for breakfast and coffee.

Azofra has a quite a few Pilgrims Hostels and is more an overnight stopping point than Najera.  There is a large relatively new municipal albergue with great facilities.

Halfway along this day there is a choice of routes.  The main route continues alongside the N120 straight into Santo Domingo.  The other route heads left up hill towards Ciruena and then back down over rough tracks to Santo Domingo.

The second route is the preferred route, unless you are in a hurry.  Lunch can be had in Ciruena. Santo Domingo is a busy bustling old town.
