Travelling from Madrid.... Advice needed...

I would like to complete the pilgrimage a few weeks time. I only have about 2 weeks spare though.

Is it possible to begin my pilgrimage from somewhere closer than Madrid?
If so, where would you suggest?

I am travelling alone and I am quite nervous about attempting something so daunting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Take it easy then, dont put pressure on yourself and go for it for a 10-12 days walks. This will leave you some resting times. Camino Guides offer some guidebooks. There are many other as well with different itinerary. I would walk the French or Portuguese route if I were you. (5h00 bus from Madrid to starting point). your local confraternity of St James might be able to help you. Alternatively, check these guys out: Follow The Camino
