    Default Flies on the Meseta

I got this quote from a person's blog fromanother message board on a September/October Camino walk:

"September/October on the Meseta also mean newly tilled fields, i.e. manure, i.e. MILLIONS of flies (Hornillos del Camino was the most fly-blown place of all). They can turn a pleasant country walk into a day of misery. Bring a head net AND insect repellent. My wide, black head net frightened people, I looked like an executioner!"

Question: Do any of you September/October walkers remember having any trouble with flies and regretting not having a head net? As if we won't already have to deal with bed bugs!

Hi, You Oak Hil Walkers sound like a fun mob. I hope one day i meet you on a walk. Have you heard of the Bibbulmun Track that goes from Perth Western Australia to Albany. in the south. It's not a religious walk, but very interesting.
    Cheers Tanya

    Hi Oak Hill Walker

I've had fly problems a couple of times. They tend to be pretty localised, so you're through in half an hour or so. I found that wearing sunglasses and a scarf over my mouth helped, but it's still an irritation.

But this has only happened twice in several thousand km of walking. So, it's not a major problem.

    Ger
