Private rooms

Has anyone run into albergues that happen to have a room for two people? From what I have read and the pictures I found, most seem to be dorm style rooms for many people. But if anyone knows of some more private places, I would appreciate you letting me know about them.

There is only one official albergue that I know of that has 2 bed rooms and that is at Azofra. Very nice albergue, all rooms are 2 bed, excellent kitchen and quite modern. I always stay there as a "laundry" stop.

Occasionally you will find private albergues who will have some smaller rooms where you can pay for both beds and have a room to yourself.

Basically, the Camino is an exercise in communal living. At Roncesvalles, the main dormitory has 120+ bunk beds in one room. Last year I heard a lady from the States asking where the ladies dorm was!! Everybody laughed!!

Most of the towns along the Way have small private hotels, and some bars rent out private rooms, but you will pay around ?30 per night for a single room with bath & toilet.

Payment for rooms is always for cash except in proper hotels in the cities when you can usually use a credit card.

Thank you! That information is very helpful. We will adjust our budget to accommodate a couple of extra nights with a bit of privacy, as this trip doubles as our honeymoon!
