Believe me, there will be a lot of Pilgrims walking the various Camino paths in August/September.

Every day, at least 100 new pilgrims will start out from St Jean and head up the hills towards Roncesvalles. Some will quit on the road to Roncesvalles, some will quit at Pamplona, but most will summon up all their will power and courage, and will end up standing in front of the Cathedral at Santiago.

You don't need to go with anyone really. 90%+ of pilgrims will have made their way to St Jean alone, but will start to make friends at the airport check-in to Bairritz or at Bayonne station.

Everybody is in the same boat. There is usually the odd Pilgrim who has walked before, and if you are very lucky, one of the legendary Camino Grandfathers will take you under his wing for a few days whilst you find your feet.

You are never alone on the Camino, unless you want to be. If you stop at the side of the road for a breather, I can guarantee that every pilgrim who passes you will stop and ask if you are OK.

This Camino Grandfather is setting off from London to Bairritz on the 3rd September, for yet another trip down the Camino Frances.

Welcome to the Forum and Buen Camino.

Are you heading for Santiago, or are you going through to Finesterre?

My plan is to go all the way to Finesterre if everything goes well.

We're a 60-something couple starting from SJPDP on August 31st after 6 days in Paris to get over jet lag. . Made only two advance reservations for the first two nights: 30/8 in SJDPP at the L'Esprit du Chemin albergue and 31/8 in Honto at the Refuge-Albergue Orisson. We are taking 8 weeks and a couple of days and hope to finish on/about October 28th.
