Anyone starting in SJPP around July 12th?

Hi all,

Am new here and seriously thinking of taking up the Camino challenge in July of this year. But im a little nervous and apprehensive as I will be traveling alone and was wondering is there anyone else starting off around this time that might be in a similar boat and that might maybe want to meet up and start off the walk together??

I am planning to start the camino around the same dates. I only have a problem. I am still doubting between doing the Camino Frances or the Camino Primitivo. The first one could be really crowded and the second one has amazing landscapes and a beatufil nature... and it is only 340 km although it is harder than the Frances (lot of mountains).
What is your plan?

Hi,

To be honest I am still only working on my plan! As I can not persuade any of my friends to come along I will be walking alone and so like the idea of the Camino Frances as it might offer more opportunity to meet people than some of the other routes. I also have the time this year to take on the full walk from SJPP to Santiago and so think I should just go for it while I can. Unfortunately my Spanish is non existant so I am worried about what problems I may run into trying to find a bed with the crowding..

I happen to arrive that day in Madrid at 7am and plan on being in SJPP by night fall, if you would like to share the ride from Pamplona to SJPP let me know.

About me, I'm 25yrs old will be my first time, I'm from California USA, speak english and spanish, traveling solo, Oh yeah I dont really know much about how to do this but Ive been reading alot and feel much better about my path,

Hi Franky,

Nice to meet you! I'm coming from Ireland so will be arriving into either Biarritz or Paris and heading to SJPP from there. Are you planning on walking the entire route?

yes my dead line is Aug 19th I have to be back in madrid by the 18th, I will be packing A bug bivy and a silk liner in case I have to sleep outside some nights (will be walking some nights also) . My backpack is Bright Yellow (very Bright) cant miss it

I'll keep a look out for you Jensemil. I havent booked my flight in yet so I could still end up in SJPP on the 10th which will be the only way I could catch up with ya as I dont imagine I'll be partaking in any night walking!
I must find something to identify myself with, am a tad jealous of Frankys bright yellow backpack I have to admit..

Is it really that many people walking at that time? I mean, i am so blond if you try take a picture of me it gets over-overexposed.
I think we all should just talk with everybody. And leave everybody alone for some times. I mean, I think everybody need their private time.

I am looking forward to this so so much, i cant wait.

From what ive been reading it will be like a walking parade! if it gets to bad i will end up crossing over to the north side, I also like to be on my own and alone most of my time part of the reason I will be going solo, but who knows what to expect I dont mind what happens i adapt very fast.

Going alone is great. You will meet loads of people and make friends for life! It is a wonderful experience. Buen Camino!
