    Question Starting at Burgos

    Hi all,

I will be going on my first Camino in 2 weeks time, and will be starting at Burgos. I will arrive there at around 7pm from Zaragoza. Does anyone know if I will be able to get my Pilgrim's passport the same evening and maybe even stay in the Albergue? Or should I book a hostel prior to arrival?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

I would suggest you book a hotel room for that evening. The albergue will be full by 7pm but you can still wander up there (its behind the Cathedral) and get your Pilgrim Passport.

Thanks a lot Covey, thats very helpful advice.

I was hoping if you could answer one more question: am I reasonable to think that I will be able to stay at an Albergue in Santiago de Compostella on my arrival on the 23rd July?? Are they likely to have any places or is it going to be fully booked because of the celebrations taking place during 24-25th July? I only need to stay one night, but Im on a budget so I would like to stay in the official albergue. Do you think its possible?

You cannot normally book in any "official" albergue, and I have not heard that those rules are being suspended for this year. You might be allowed to stay for an extra night or so at Monte Gozo which has a huge albergue (more like an army camp!) so I would try there first. I suspect it will be standing room only in Santiago on the 25th July.
