Has anyone walked the entire camino starting in Oct??

I plan to start during the first week in October - I have five weeks to complete the walk and am keen to get as much feedback as possible. At this stage I am walking on my own with the view to carrying my own gear....happy to hear from those who have walked that time of year and whether there are many pilgrims on the road / safety / and whether there are less bed bugs / ticks around!

Hi, I've walked the Camino twice, the first time in Oct 2008. It's a beautiful time of the year with all the grapes ready for harvest..some advice:

Weather: You need to be prepared. The day I crossed the Pyrenees and the day going into Galicia, it was snowing heavily so thermals, gloves, hat etc are a must. Most days were very pleasant though and ideal to walk in. Apart from Galicia which was wet!

Accomodation:
There was never any real problem getting a place in an albergue - most were 3/4s full. A couple of times, albergues were closed due to the season but this was in my guide and there were always open alternatives. I walked the Camino last month and I had to stop early a lot of the days to get a bed as things were a lot busier - you won't have that pressure..

Mornings: remember to pack a light and try to get reflective tape for your gear: you will be walking in the dark in the early mornings so you need to be visible to traffic.
