    Default November Walk

    Hello there,

Im planning to walk the Camino from St. Jean to Roncesvalles departing November 1st 2010. Is this madness considering the winter season? Weather doesn't concern me, I just need reassurance that a bed is more likely than not to be available?

Any information would be greatly received!

The official albergues will still be open, but many of the private albergues will be closed by then and their owners will have gone to sunny climates for a rest after a busy season.

You will probably not need to pack the sun cream!!! Double up on the warm clother and rain gear!!

    Have fun.

I am planning to go at the same time. I have always liked to travel during the off season, and plan to be prepared for all weather, but will probably take a break if really heavy rain. According to the guidebook, the weather could be anything, it also sounds like beds are likely to be more available at that time.

Remember you will be walking over mountains and even in summer I have found myself cold there. Wrap up well.

Great feedback re November walking...I am starting mid Oct...when we talk wet weather gear.... (yes I come from a warm, sunny, tropical rain only part of the world where you dry in 15 mins) what are you suggesting?...the full michelin man get up or just a light rain jacket (yes I understand the need for warm layering underneath) need some advice with this as I don't want to overpack (which it looks like I am doing)
