Default What is the best way to get a pilgrims passwport?

I am aware that joining the confraternity however it seems their membership starts in October and I am aiming on undertaking the walk March or near there. Can I get a passport before then if joining the confraternity or alternatively how easy is it to get a passport in St Jean de Pied de Port? Many thanks

    Hi Spencer ~
It's quite easy to get a pilgrim's passport (credentiale) in SJPP -- just go to the office of Les Amis de St. Jacques. The office is open March to November. Here's a link: Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port - Amis du chemin de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle P-A

Thank you for the information, I assume therefore I won't have a problem just turning up for a passport, do I need any credentials or is it simply turn up and ask? Thanks again

They'll ask for your passport and will require a small fee for your credentiale. Make certain to pick up their great list of albergues and distances and also ask for a weather report for the Route Napoleon.

I received my pilgrims passport from the Confraternity of St. James in Palo Alto California but it is much easier to get one from the pilgrim registration office in St. Jean. If I recall correctly, it's just a Euro. Buen Camino
