I don't have personal experience with mid-April, but if mid-May is any indication you'll have cool temperatures and occasional rain. The paths in this stretch are mostly gravel, so mud is not a big problem.

    Buen camino!

Am starting in Burgos on 17th April myself! Going to Astorga, which will be the final 3rd of the Camino - did Astorga-Santiago 2 years ago and St. Jean-Burgos last year. Good luck with the walk. Forecast is that it will be mid to high teens and mostly dry. Hope this is the case!

If you're going I recommend don't dwell on the weather, it will be there whether you go or not, just be prepared, the only guarantee on the Camino is you'll have an experience of a lifetime. Have a backpack cover for the rain and a poncho for yourself and the pack. You can also line the inside the pack with plastice bags, just keep them in the bottom of the pack for quick access. If it doesn't rain at least you were prepared!
