Is it possible to get a Pilgtims Passport in advance of the walk, ie could I get one now for walk in a month or is it only valid if walking immediately? Thank you

Depending on where you live you may purchase a Pilgrims Passport (credentiale) from your country's Confraternity of St. James. Usually a small donation is requested and in some cases the confraternity wants to provide credentiales only for pilgrims who will be making their pilgrimage in the next 60-90 days. The confraternity marks your credentiale with your name and sometimes the dates of your walk and your starting point. Sometimes also with your passport number. Not knowing your nationality I can't provide contact info with your specific confraternity, but guessing that you're an English speaker:

And of course you can get a credentiale at most major albergues. Buen camino ~
