Re: First Camino, starting Last week July at St Jean Pied de Port
Hi everyone now in Astroga. So this is a hot update, currently raining here but still warm, on the discussion on sleeping bag liners I have one and I would not bring it again, completly useless itīs always twisting on you so you inevitably end up lying on the very mattress you are trying to avoid. You cannot fix them without sitting up put on your light and struggle. Mattress cover definitely better option. No reports of bed bugs so far.
Firstimers: Do Train, with and without backpack this way among other things you will test ankles, knees and hips and maybe a blister or two.
If you are bringing a sleeping bag go for the normal rectangle job, stay away from mummy types, they are only for mermaids who only have one tail.
Make sure you have footware with good soles, there are a lot of stones to be trodden on.
In hostels, snoring does happen, so donīt stay awake all night to stop yourself, īcause then only the snorrers get sleep.
Itīs a great walk but very tough, make no mistake about that. You will be exercising continually for nearly 33 consecutive days, when is the last time you did that.
Walking poles in my opinion are a good idea, one only necessary. I will look in again before thend of the trail, my intention is to get to Santiage 1st Sept
Buen Camino
