Looking for buddies to walk the camino frances this summer.

Hi Den

You don't need to have anybody with you to walk the Camino. I've walked it alone several times. Or better to say, "I've started it alone...", because you never stay alone for long, especially in summer. You'll always find somebody to talk to and walk with for a while and as the days go by you'll get to know people quite well.

So, if you don't find anybody who can walk with you don't let it stop you starting on your own.

Another reason why it's a good idea just to go on your own, meet people along the way is because if you make a connection here and once you meet you may not be compatible, different walking speeds, different views on life, the Camino, any number of things, and if you feel a sense of obligation because that person may not want to walk alone you might be stuck. Your going to meet so many people, I started out knowing one person, by the end of day 2 I knew about 5-8, by the time I got to Santiago I had a group of about 20 people I regularly walked or spent time with on an almost daily basis, but was never obligated to walk with them. And by the time I got to Santiago none of the original people I met in the first 3 days were around, either gone home, behind or ahead of me. Some days you'll just want to spend it alone, that is one of the most beautiful things about the Camino.

Hi Den, My plan is to start walking June 30 this summer from SJPDP.

It will be a great mistake to hook up with a stranger before you get there. You will have new pilgrim friends from the first day.
Relax about being alone...it won't happen unless you prefer it that way.
It is a long way from SJPP to Santiago to be obligated to someone who turns out to be a poor match.
