Default In Sections or Skipping to End?

Original plan to walk from SJDP to Santiago in 60 days in 2009 cancelled due to bum knee and family emergencies.

New plan is to walk for 30 days in May of 2012.

Trying to decide among ourselves (me and DW) to walk the first half and come back later for 2nd half or to start and skip around by bus or taxi so that our daily miles do not exceed 8 to 10 miles max (per original plan).

I like plan to do 1/2 now and 1/2 later to ensure that we get the whole magilla. Not too keen on doing 'highlights'.

DW worries that if we do 1/2 now, we may not be coming back for second half due to our ages (I'll be 65 and she'll be 63 next year).

Any thoughts/opinions as to what best strategery should be?

My suggestion would be to start in SJPP and walk as far as you can in the time you have. Plan the next trip while you are walking this time.
I think you will miss many things and experiences if you "skip" around. Just my opinion, of course.
As far as age...you are both young ones compared to many of us.
I did my first Camino at age 71 and the second at age 72. I am now scheduled to walk from Le Puy to Santiago in April of 2012. That is about 1000 miles (more or less depending on side trips along the way). You are almost 10 years younger than me.
    Go for it.
