December Walk? Sarria to Santiago
Hi all! I'm looking into doing the last 100km of the Camino Frances the second week of December. I would probably walk 4 or 5 days. This would be my first time doing the walk and I'm moderately in shape. My main concern, though, is the weather and the time of year. Would it be dangerous to go? (snow, trail markers covered, not a lot of people, etc.). I'm prepared for it to be really cold and I would buy special gear for the walk, but as a first-timer I'm not sure I could handle snow covering up the route, etc.
Any suggestions and/or stories would be appreciated!

Re: December Walk? Sarria to Santiago
Hi Winter and welcome to the Forum. It's hard to predict the weather this far in advance and I'm sure you have the same access to sites like this that I do: Climate Weather in Santiago de Compostela Spain ~ Spanish Language Schools In Galicia . This shows that the average high and low temps are a little too warm for much snow. But who knows just what the weather will be like in the 5-6 days you'll be walking? Probably it's best to plan for a typical Galician winter, which is much more likely to be cool and rainy than cold and snowy. Fortunately the Sarria to Santiago stretch does not have mountain passes like other parts of the Camino Frances, which reduces the chance you'll be in snow. But who can say for sure? Buen camino!
