    Default Start date

    Hello,

I've just found out that I'm lucky enough that my employers will give me six weeks sabbatical to walk St Jean to Santiago (and, if the feet will allow, on to Finisterre).

So it's now the planning... shopping... excited reading... buying of socks and so on.

And, of course, picking a start date.

I can fly out either on Sat 14th April 2012 or the following Saturday, 21st. Any thoughts of which might be best? Is the 14th likely to be significantly quieter? Or colder and wetter? What about the May bank holiday - how much of a problem will it be to walk through it?

It's just gone from dream to real and it's all a bit overwhelming!

    Thank you,

    Peronel

Welcome to the forum. Exciting isn't it.

You will be past the Easter week so I don't think it much matters which date you use. The weather will be what it will be and a week earlier or later will not make much difference. Not sure what holiday you are thinking of. Is it also a holiday in Spain?

Just pick a date that fits best for you and go for it. Make the travel reservation and you are committed. Make a reservation for the first night on the Camino and you are good to go. Everything else will just fall in place. It always does.
    Where are you starting from?
