    Default Trekking poles & shoes

    Hey y'all
Question about my trekking poles. I'm taking tel of them, traveling to London then onto France. What do I do with them?? Check them?? Carry on maybe?? My backpack will fit on carry on, but will the powers that be let them come into the cabin??
Ok shoes. I've got my hiking boots. Some say take another pair to walk around the village. Then ANOTHER pair for the shower. What gives?? Wouldn't that be a lot more weight. Advice you help.
Ok have a couple other observations after reading through this forum. People complain about littler being on the Camino, namely the used toilet paper on the side of the trail. After reading that I was shocked at how many people seem not to be able to hold their water or their nasties. Another thing, this "mad" rush to the showers. I don't know about y'all, but I've spend all day out in a field roundin up cattle and really don't stink all that bad, except mabey have the Oder of a cow pat, but I don't expect that kind of aroma on the Camino.

But I'm fairly sure with my hygiene habits, if the bath lines are to long, washing of the essential unmentionables would be sufficient.
I'm not going to be running around getting in line for a bath for an hour dosent sound fun. I know this is a rude question, why the stinkyness?? Sorry again for being rude and turse.

    Hi Aryk

Trekking Poles: you can't bring them onboard so check them in.
Shoes: Boots and something light for the evenings (sandals, crocs, etc). You don't need more.
Showers: the longest I've ever waited was about 10 minutes, that was at the hight of summer. Don't worry about it.

When you get back perhaps you'll be able to answer your own question re going to the toilet, personal hygiene, etc.

I imagine chasing cattle around a field is excellent training for the Camino!

I took a pair of Teva sandals, which served me quite well. They are very light weight and can be worn in the shower. The plastic sole dries in seconds. The straps can be adjusted to fit swollen feet. They can be hung on your pack, a clothesline, etc. The only problem I had was the hard, non-porous sole. My feet sweat a lot, so after a few minutes they were uncomfortably slippery. As well, the hard sole did not treat my sore feet very well. The solution was to wear my socks, which proved to solve both problems while making me the fashion icon of Spain.
