    Default Advice

Hi. I intend to do two weeks of the Camino starting from St Jean Pied De Port in mid April. I would like to travel as light as possible so suggestions re the following welcome: What type of sleeping bag to take? Any recommendations on type of rucksack? Would a light waterproof jacket over a fleece be sufficient for this time of year and should I pack waterproof trousers? Also I don't like heights though I'm ok if not near an edge-would the route Napolean be ok considering this? Many thanks.

    Hi ucol ~
Take a look at our section on equipment in this Forum and you'll find answers (and many opinions) on sleeping bags and rucksacks as well as clothing. If you don't find the answers there please repost and I or others will certainly help you out.

Don't worry about heights on the Route Napoleon -- though it's high there are not scaring places where you'll feel you might fall. I have mild acrophobia myself and have never had a problem there. However, there's one or two bridges outside Portomarin . . . .

    Buen camino!

aprils weather in the pyrennes can be chilly and wet.Two weeks of walking in drizzle feeling damp will be miserable and put you off returning.Look online...most retailers have got great sales on...i gut got a north face waterproof jacket for 65 gbp. a good gelert cape will keep you and your pack dry for 20 gbp.waterproof trousers are good though i prefer the gaiters and boots/cape option. take a beanie hat and gloves.i'm not good with cold weather as you may have summized...so when it somes to a pack...my preference would be a 45 L osprey/dueter...with enough room for a thermal flask for continuous hot drinks throughout the day
