Returning to Dublin from Santiago
Hi. Can anyone give me info on flying back to dublin from santiago de compostela. Where is the best place to fly from. From the research that i have done my best bet is to travel from santiago to santander and fly home to dublin with ryanair. Is there a easier way that i am missing. I intend to finish the camino in santiago around 4-5 october 2012.

Hi Smokey,
I think the last flights out of Santiago are mid September. You can catch the overnight train to Madrid from Santiago station and fly home with Aer Lingus next day. The train is reasonably priced and a great adventure if you have never been on an overnight sleeper train. You can book the train a couple of months in advance on the Renfe train site. It is cheaper the earlier you book in advance. The train arrives in Madrid Charlmartin station at 8am and the train connections to Madrid airport are top class. You will easily make the early morning return to Dublin which leaves at around 10am. There was little difference in the cost between Aer Lingus and Ruinair. The main difference was lack of hassle with Aer Lingus over the size of your rucksack. The perfect end to your Camino.
Enjoy,
Sean
