1 week trip advice
Hi everyone,
I'm planning on doing the first stretch of the camino at start of september. plan is to fly to biarritz and do the fisrt 7 days from st jean pied, which going by my guide book means ending in logrono. not quite sure of best way to get back to UK from there. bus/train back to biarritz or alternative route?? seems to be an airport in logrono but think its only internal spanish flights? i figured there must be others out there who have just done the first week, so hoped someone would be able to offer some advice on best approach coming from London UK...
Thanks in advance!

Doing the same as you but travelling out on 9th. Hope to get to logrono then have a night out in Bilboa before returning to blighty. Doing it as a bit of a recce before doing the whole lot at some stage in future. good luck to you. Be interested to know how you get on.

Cheers John. Am actually going mid September now, so you'll be a few days ahead of me. Hope you have a great trip. Am planning on doing exactly the same in Bilboa unless the lure of a neverending bath after 7 days wins me over...!!
Happy walking...

Hi
Ryanair fly daily to Biarritz...
A lot of trains coming from Spain to France finish at Irun...different train gauge...
Irun is quite close to Biarritz...
So bus from Logrono to Pamplona...Train to Irun...
If you dont get to Logrono....Every town has an autobus service which will bring you to.....usually the nearest big town..
Buen Camino...

Hi Sassmeister,
As an alternative to heading back through Bilbao, which is not the considered the most beautiful of cities by many, although the Guggenheim Museum is worth a visit, could I suggest that you look at the option of heading back through Santander which has much more options in terms of flights back/from the UK. Also Santander with its port area is a beautiful city to roam about, with very friendly and passionate people, especially if you have time to spare before you leave Spain. You can get a bus connection from Logrono to Santander.
Buen Camino

Thanks!
Thanks for all the advice everyone. Just got back (decided to return from Bilbao in end) and had a great time, although I am a wee bit tired and a little lopsided from a particularly pesky blister!!
To anyone doing the whole month, take it easyish during the 1st week - you'll be surprised after an enthusiastic start how your feet/legs can start to flag after day 3 or so...if you've got nasty blisters at day 7, week 2 could be hellish!
the rest of the world could certainly take a leaf or 2 from the cameraderie between the nationalities along the way.
Buen camino!
