using deodorat on your feet
I hear that using deodorant on the bottom of your feet will prevent from getting blisters. Has anyone tried it or hear about it? what is the best way to avoid blisters? that is one of my concerns.
Any feedback will be appreciated.
Thanks!

I just wanted to bring this back up, any tips on avoiding blisters?

I've been told that it's a good idea to rub Vaseline into your feet before you put on your socks. This reduces friction.

Best tips on avoiding blisters is have good socks and boots. Make sure the boots are worn in before you go.
If you feel a blister coming on stop and deal with it.
When I came across water anywhere, streams, I would take my boots off and soak my feel to take the heat out of them. Great.
I used a foot cream I had bought in Austria the second time I walked and I only got one small blister during the whole route - this cream is similar to vaseline.

I agrese with Leslie: have good socks and boots (not brand new, worn before you leave your home) and every morning before you walk use some creame or vaseline. Special footcare aren?t necessary, i use nivea soft cream

deoderant on feet
I have heard that it keeps your feet from sweating.. thereby reducing the threat of blisters.

Hi,
I am unsure if deodorant works on feet but I just finished 30 days walking and I used vaseline and had no blisters!
Cheers

Well done, Darren!
Wonder what %-age make it without blisters?
I am wondering how Vaseline on the feet would affect the wicking action of high end 'stay dry' type socks? Roseallee

I always seem to get one blister when I'm walking. Usually on my little toe. I never take any special precautions. I wear cheap cotton socks from Pennys/Primarks and when I take a break I usually take my boots off. I've never put deodorant on my feet. Although, some people have unkindly suggested that I should!
I think the most important things are to walk at your own pace and don't ignore any discomfort.

Just spoke to the EMS gear guy yesterday and he strongly encouraged deodorant- swears by it. Dual purpose- makes feet slightly slippery to avoid friction (therefore preventing blisters) and helps with any odor. I am going try it next week when I hit the trail- one less additional thing to pack.

To avoid blisters:
- Put antiblister cream in your feet every morning before you start walking. You can buy it in sports stores or in the pharmacy.
- The blisters will appear if your feets are sweating when you walk.
That's why it is very important to use antiperspirant socks.
Buy a pair of socks! You won't regret it! They really work!
Sweat and humidity in your boots will make the blisters appear soon. So keep your feets always dry.
Use the regular socks or flip flops when you arrive in the albergue.
That's what I did and I didn't have any blister. I hope this tips help to another pilgrims!

y.
I assume you mean Glide or a similar product? I also swear by it. Any idea if it is available in the pharmacies along the way? I would prefer to carry the travel size, if so.
I was thinking about buying a pair of WRIGHTSOCK Anti-Blister Double Layer and Performance Sport Socks
Does anyone use these, please & how are they? Roseallee

Hi
I'm sorry I don't know what is Glide.
I mean an antiblister cream/ antirubbing cream. (no friction)
I used that one:
Decathlon - cuidados comodidad deportista cuidados del pie anti frotamientos APTONIA - Crema antirozaduras pies APTONIA - practicantes regulares de carreras y travesas.
But you will find other brands in any pharmacy on your way.
(In spanish = crema antirozadura/crema antiampollas)

Still on the sock/feet subject, how about this one? In the Cdn. Air Force (WW2), my uncle told me they were taught the following... that if it was impossible to change into dry socks midpoint of a long march to switch them one foot to the other. As I ponder it, it does rather make sense. Particularly with cushioned socks. Thoughts anyone? Roseallee
