St Jean Pied de Port Passport
Hello All!
I am new to the forum and I am doing some preliminary research before I decide to do a pilgimage.
I have 2 questions and any information would be greatly appreciated!
First, can I just show up in St Jean Pied de Port packed and ready to go, and go to the St James church and ask for a passport/credential book and then they'll give it to me? Or should I write to them before hand? The St. James Confraternity Uk website says not to apply with them if I'm not a member, which I'm not.
Second, how long does it usually take people to walk from St Jean Pied de Port to Compostella?
Any info is much appreciated!
Thanks!
Elk

Hi
With regard to your firsty question...Yes you can pick up your carnet in St Jean...
How long does it take...How long is a piece of string?
800k at 25k/day = 40 Days...
But it may not work like that.
Maybe you walk fast...slow....You might get blisters, tired, sick, want to visit some towns and cities on the route so.....
The second question is difficult to give a definitive answer...
Buen Camino..
Pat.
