Hey Everyone,
I'm trying to figure out where I should get my pilgrims passport and a few other details. Are there any denominational restrictions for getting the pilgrims passport? I'm Greek Orthodox, and don't have my baptismal certificate. What's required to issue the passport?
Also, I read on a different thread that the passports issued in St.Jean may not be as 'official' as those issued in Spain... I was considering to take a bus to St.Jean, but if I'm getting my passport in Pamplona I may just start there... Does anyone know if one passport is actually more official than another?
Ok...! one more question. In Pamplona and St.Jean is it fairly easy to find the offices that issue passports? are these towns pretty small?
Thanks in advance!
Costa.

You can get your Pilgrim Passport in St Jean at the Pilgrim Office at the top of town.
In Pamplona you can get the passport at any of the "official" albergues.
You can also get one from the Canadian Company of Pilgrims before you leave Canada
Canadian Company of Pilgrims
The confusion regarding pilgrim passports arose from a rule issued by the Cathedral in Santiago which took effect from Jan09. This ruling stated that only the passport issued by the Cathedral in Santiago was valid for passports issued "in Spain". They also stated that passports issued by the official pilgrim offices in other countries were valid. Therefore the passports issued in France, UK, USA, Canada etc are OK.
The problem was that all sorts of organizations in Spain were issuing "a Pilgrim Passport" including some tour companies who ran pilgrim tours.
Some churches in Spain were giving members of the congregation a sheet of paper stamped by the priest, and there was evidence that some local pilgrims would just drive up to an albergue, ask them to stamp the passport, and drive off to collect their certificate from the Cathedral in Santiago.
The Pilgrim passport issued by Santiago and the various overseas offices needs only your National Passport Number or National ID Card Number and you have to declare if you are walking or using a cycle to do the Camino.
A birth or baptism certificate is not needed. Less than 50% of the pilgrims walking the Camino declare they are walking for religious reasons. The rest of us are "other"
