    Default Camino from Leon

    Hi Leslie,

Thank you for this website and forum. It has been so useful and I am really looking forward to doing the walk. I noticed in a recent thread that you are walking from Leon. That is what I am going to do. How are you getting to Leon?
Is it possible to do the walk from Leon in 2 weeks and can you pick up a Pilgrims Passport there?

    Thank you

I don't know about the passport - I would guess that they can be got from the main albergue in Leon. I intend to have one before I go from the St James Camino in Ireland.

Getting to Leon is fairly easy - I intend to fly into and out of santiago, then get to Leon by train.

And yes, I think it can be done in two weeks - if I can't I would miss the second or third last day. As I live in Ireland I find most of Galicia very much like here and therefore not as interesting for me.

Leslie- I will also be travelling from ireland- which parts of the camino should i avoid then? as it stands, i'm planning on starting from SJPP and doing 2 weeks from there.. where do you think that would bring me to (a moderate pace?) and where could i fly back to dublin from at that point?

Thank you SO much for setting up this site and forum, i've been reading it all day and am picking up some invaluable tips.

I think two weeks from St Jean would bring you to Leon or nearby - I would walk that part and just get the train or bus from there to your return airport.

Santiago is the easiest to fly to and from Dublin. See the map here http://www.caminodesantiago.me.uk/caminomaps.html and get your pilgrims passport from here http://www.stjamesirl.com/

    Enjoy

tks a mill Leslie- was thinking of flying INTO Biarritz, the flight is only 45 eur with ryanair..! Apparently it's only an hour from there to St Jean? I guess flying home from Santiago would be best then.. i'll feel like a cheat getting the train from Leon to Santiago, but hey, i'll be back some other time (please god!) to do the 2nd half... A lot of people have told me that St Jean to Leon is more picturesque and buzzy, would you agree with that Leslie?

I'm getting very excited now, this forum has really spurred me on.

Biarritz is a good choice and yes St Jean to Leon is more picturesque for me.

    All the best.
