Internet Access???
Maybe a silly question but is there internet access/cafes on Camino? Just thinking in relation to keeping folks back home up to date with progress. Thanks!

Internet access is a bit variable along the Camino Frances.
The major towns and cities have numerous internet cafe's where the line speed is reasonable and uploading photo's is not much of a problem.
A few of the official (municipal) albergues have one or two PC's with internet access, but the upload speeds can be a bit iffy in the more rural areas.
Most private albergues have internet access, some free and the rest you pay for.
Open wireless access for hand held devices is very limited, and usually only available in the major towns, but access to the web is difficult as you have to wander around trying to find an open connection.
Mobile phones work everywhere, and coverage along the Camino Frances is virtually 100%. Downloads to hand held devices is very very very expensive and best avoided.
Blackberries work almost everywhere along the trail, but the cost of receiving and sending messages is frightening!
People have discussed using the new mini laptops as a way of keeping in touch. Given the very limited opportunity of picking up an open wireless connection, they are not worth carrying, and the weight of the notebook and charger are a significant penalty.
Generally, you will find some form of internet access where ever you stop for the night, but be prepared to wait in the queue to let your loved ones know you are still going!!
