Walking it alone

I'm a Canadian in my mid-twenties and hoping to walk the Camino sometime, having heard of this pilgrimage just within the past year. Still not sure when i'll be able to go, but thinking maybe of some time this fall...?

Is it a good idea to fly off and do this by myself? Or better to get someone to come with me? I'm hoping some of you with lots of experience will be able to give me some answers and suggestions.

The majority of pilgrims are walking solo, although you will quickly fall in with like minded souls and have some company if you want it, or walk on your own and meet up in the evening.

It seems like most people elect to walk on their own. Those who walk with a companion certainly have a different experience than thse who walk alone. Of course you are NEVER alone for long along the Camino. That appeals to me. Meeting other pilgrims and walking with them for a ways...and then finding time to be alone with my thoughts again. Paths crossing, pleaseant hellos and goodbyes...all part of the experience.

I look forward to my adventure begining later this month... 8-)
