    Default Finisterre

    Hi walkers!

I am currently in Galicia, about 200km from Santiago.. I seem to be about 2 days ahead of schedule.. as a result, i?m wondering when i get to Santiago will I continue onwards to Finisterre- have any of you done that? Is it worth the trip?

Once i arrive in Santiago, what actually happens- ie where do i go to get my compostela etc?

Havent met one single solitary person who speaks english (yet- have only been walking a few days!) so am afraid I wont be able to ask someone..

God i wish i?d learnt spanish

    Hi Sheens!

Finisterre does worth it, definitely. For me, sunset at Finisterre was the best moment of my journey, so it might be for you too

You can get Compostela in the pilgrim office - it's near the cathedral, so you should find it (whole Santiago is quite dificult for orientation, but the arrows should be good untill Cathedral).
I'd recommend you to stay in Monte do Gozo before Santiago, because you will have whole day to visit the city.

It's strange not to meet anyone speaking english - almost half of the pilgrims speak english, but you can just have bad luck about this. Locals rarely speak English, but in ordinary situations few words and gesticulation is enough

yes this is certainly worth it! we did not have the sunset, but the worst weather in the whole walk!! pouring rain howling wind fog horns from the light house that nearly deafened us...champagne was blowing out of our cups!! And still it was one of the most memorable days of our trip!!!!!! We felt like we had truely finished. We took the 3 days, but the middle day is mainly on the raod which we did not enjoy.
I know about the Spanish, i can't imagne being on my own, i would have sturuggled...
We have started at SJPP on 8th April and just returned home to Australia after the best 6 weeks ever.
