    Default Camping gas and money

In a couple of weeks I am planning to walk the Camino Frances and I was wondering two things : How much should I budget for each day (as I am intending to stay in the albergues)? and I have a a camping gas stove which takes the usual UK screw top gas bottles, are these available at all on the Camino?

    Hi Brod75

You should probably budget about ?30 a day.

If you're going to stay in albergues why are you bringing a gas stove? If you want to cook your own food you should stay where they have a kitchen.

How much does all your stuff weigh?

I just got home from a glorious 6-weeks on the Camino. Albergues range from about 3-9 Euros for a bed. Private albergues frequently ask for more (I was asked for 20 & 25 Euros which included a very simple pilgrim meal too). Some albergues run on donations.

Pilgrim meals are often available from about 7-11 Euros. Some people ate the pilgrim meals at lunch (during siesta) and just snacked on bar food or stuff from the market in the evening.

There are kitchens at many albergues and it is nice to cook a communal meal with fellow pilgrims from time to time.

Bar food is inexpensive and readily available most of the time. I breakfasted on toast and coffee at 8 and 10 each day (about 2-3 Euros). Sandwiches to picnic on are available at bars or you can put one together from the market.

Lots of albergues have coffee/drink machines on premises.

The fitting for the gas stoves are diferent in spain to the UK. But I would agree that it is something taht you don't need anyway. Most of the albergues have kitchens, and in the heat of Spain during this time of year a hot meal is not alway required.
I ate a lot of cold food and fruit, in fact nearly always during the day - at night a pilgrims meal or something easy cooked in the kitchens.
    All the best.
