    Post My Journey

    Hello

Lot of firsts....first posting on this site, first questions asked, and first Camino!

Planning on starting the Camino early Sept and from the beginning SJPDP. Nervous and excited at the prospect. But from reading posts on this site and conversations with a couple of people who have walked the Camino, overall it seems a good thing. Challenging in so many ways, but positive. And for me too I hope!

My question is about the getting there. Flying to Barritz is fine, and then I know there are trains to SJPDP. Ive been checking on the International Journey Planner site and would like to know if people think that the information given is reliable?

    Sorry this is so long....!
    Thank you

    Default Leaving SJPP sept 10th

this will be my first Camino, a few more items to get, a few more successive days of extra kms and hours , more reading and ready with a few lil butterflies to the journey of discoveries and new acquaintances which may become Camino friendships. The Maple Leaf & South African flags are on my backpack

    Default Hello

    Ken and Rosalee

thanks for replies and kind words.

Im leaving SJPP on 5th Sept and have booked into a hostel. Travelling alone so hoping to meet and make friends along the way.

So now 5 weeks to prepare and gather all the kit I need for the biggest walk ever! Though trying to think of it in small steps otherwise it does seem pretty overwheming at this point.

    Default Pre-trip anxiety

    Hi All,
I, too, have arrived at the pre-Camino stage where it has hit home that this is quite an undertaking I have committed to. IE, there is a very long walk ahead. I decided on the same strategy as you have, Orla, of thinking in bite sized sections, not "here I stand with almost 780 km before me & my feet already hurt." It's the last weeks of waiting that seem to breed the anxiety. From all accounts, once on the path it just unfolds. Roseallee

    Hi Rosalee

I feel the same and only three weeks to go! Flights booked so definitely on the way. And gathering all the bits needed for the trip.

It does seem a little daunting, but I keep thinking I will be grand as soon as I arrive into St Jean. Booked into L'espirit Du Chemin and it seems a friendly place. And as they do a group dinner in the evening, a chance to get to know some people on day 1!

    Default Thanks for the encouragement.

    Hi Orla,
I seem to have gotten over my bout of nerves. In 5 weeks, I will be walking.
I might consider booking L'Esprit du Chemin ahead too. One less uncertainty on arrival is tempting. Then again, it seems the Camino is all about trusting step by step bed, companions, etc., will arise on cue. I think I practice that. Roseallee
