As to the "albergue" scene at Roncesvalles, they actually showed him booking into the private albergue/bar which is in the buildings to the left of what was the main albergue "barn", but the actual shots of him getting his bed were shot in the main albergue building ( aka The Barn!) which has now apparently been replaced by new accommodation in the Roncesvalles buildings and the old barn was then going to be used for overflow accommodation.

When I went through Roncesvalles last year, the Dutch Hospitaliero I know there said they were due to move into the "new" albergue accommodation in the main buildings in early September, but I have not heard any reports on what the accommodation was like in the new building

The "New Alberque" is superb. Each two sets of bunk beds are enclosed in Ikea style thick "wood" boarding creating what the dutch hospitalieros call "chambrettes" (little rooms) and that's how they feel - private and cosy - when in reality you are sleeping in an 80 bed dorm! They are brilliant!at the end of each dorm are male and female showers and loos - very modern. Really recommend this place as I was expecting the 120 bed old dorm with little room between bunks and 2 loos.
    Well done the Dutch!

One looks back with a certain nostalgia at The Barn!! It was a fairly blunt introduction to Albergue living for most, but you did get the feeling that you had arrived on the Camino Frances!!

I often worry about those who design Albergues and I have wondered if any of them had actually stayed in an Albergue and asked Pilgrims what they need/want.

The Albergue in Burgos is cleverly designed and fits in with its surroundings, and anyone who had actually stayed at the original Burgos Albergue which was a collection of wooden huts in the park would think it a vast improvement, BUT..... why oh why do they have the toilet doors with automatic lights opening directly in to the sleeping space. You cannot open the toilet doors without the toilet lights going on and lighting up the sleeping space, not to mention the smell.
