Re: Ingles September
Hi Dave ~
Congrats on your upcoming Camino. Great that you're starting so soon on your planning.
Not sure where exactly you're coming from, but if it's from the US or Australia your best choice is probably to fly into Madrid. From Madrid you can easily catch a train to Pamplona, then either start your Camino there or take a van or taxi to Roncesvalles or St. Jean Pied de Port. There are easy connections back to Madrid from Santiago, either by bus, train or air. If you're starting from the UK or Ireland most people seem to find it easy to get flights to Biarritz (which is the closest airport to SJPP) and then to fly back to London directly from Santiago. Biarritz is a quick transfer to Bayonne, then a train to SJPP is easy from there.
If you stay in albergues every night your cost can be from 5 to 10€ per person per night. Often a person can find simple hotels for 25 to 50€ per night. It's generally best to plan on a few hotel nights in the big cities so you can pause and rest. Many people stay and extra night in Burgos, Leon and Santiago.
Hope this helps. Buen camino!
