Hi all. It's my first post so thanks for a useful site!

I'm looking to cycle from Faro - Santiago de Compostela. I have found a few routes but i'm not 100% confident. Can anybody point me in the right direction of a tried and tested route? And the most important thing to know for me is if the roads are mostly paved or gravel/off road. That way I can decide to use the road bike or mountain bike.

Any info on this would be much appreciated. I've just ordered the John Brierly guide and maps so that might help from the Lisbon-Santiago leg.
