The route from Leon to Santiago
We are a group who regularly cycle for the last week of May. It is a mixed ability group and whilst we like a challenge we do not want anything that is too arduous. We are contemplating the Camino next year from Leon to Santiago over the course of 6 days cycling. Planning to date has been undertaken using the Cicerone guide by John Higginson.
We are worried that (even allowing for the two big climb sections) the route is going to be too undulating for some of our riders and that too much of the route will be on roads that are quite busy. Whilst we do not mind the odd steep hill, several days of sharp hills on busy roads would not be at all what we are looking for. In principle we all like the idea of a challenge to follow the Pilgrim route but can anyone give me some further insight about the profile of the road, how busy they are and how difficult it is in practice. Many thanks
