    Default Renting?? Tips and ideas?

    Hi,

I'm from the US but currently living in Spain and will be here until May doing my study abroad. At the end of the school year, I would love to do the Camino de Santiago -- something that I have thought about since researching it for a paper 5 years ago. Now that I'm actually here, I don't want to miss out on the opportunity. But, I don't have any of the actual equipment here with me. I've seen a few sites that mention renting a bike and gear, but is this a practical option for me? Also, I would like to know about how many days it would take to do the Camino Frances by bike so that I can plan accordingly with my return flight to the States. Any information and tips you could give me would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance

    Hi, me again.

I've decided to do the Camino del Norte instead of the Frances, but still have a few doubts about how long it will take me to go from the Spanish border at Irun to Santiago. I am not a serious cyclist but am generally in good shape and an overall athlete. I just don't know how many days it will take to cover the 825 kilometers. Other threads I have read on here say they took about 2 weeks, but that seems a bit long to me. Am I way off, or could anyone give me some feedback? Thanks for any help and advice!

It looks like about two weeks to me,if you hurry and don't mind being a credit card tourer.
Better to take a tent and camping gear and take your time,at least when you are (quite wrongly) denied acess to refugios because you are a cyclist you can sleep peacefully without worrying about bed-bugs or noisy children.
Better still, start at le Puy or Vezelay and enjoy a week or so in France getting firt for the Pyrenees.
I'm going to repeat what I keep saying, this is not something you do to a fixed time frame.
Set off when you want to ,and get back when you get back.
