    Default Camino planning

    Hi There,

I will be starting the camino on May 12 and only doing it for two weeks. Is it recommended that I book my accommodation on the first and second night in advance??? I realise that this year is a jubilee year and there will be a large number of pilgrims. Also, what is a good airline that flies from Santiage de Campostela to Barcelona????

    any help would be appreciated

    Stef

Booking your first nights bed is always a good idea, but you cannot pre-book the official albergues. You can usually pre-book the private albergues if you know the name and email address/phone number, or just book into a small hotel for the night.

Depending where you are starting from, the larger towns and cities all have tourist offices who are usually the best place to start. They always have useful town maps and lists of places to stay.

As for getting to Barcelona, try Iberia or go by train via Madrid.

I noticed that Ryanair do flights from Santiago to Barcelona on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sundays and are quoting around ?30 for a flight at the end of May.

However, the airport quoted is Barcelona Reus Airport, which in Ryanair speak could be anywhere up to 75kms from Barcelona itself.

My jest about the location of Reus Airport turns out to have been reasonably correct. It is 75kms SOUTH of Barcelona on the coast and 8kms from Tarragona. There is a bus service to Barcelona!!
