I'm not completely sure what to expect in terms of temperatures in June and July...just have heard people say it's hot! I'm and American so I think in terms of degrees in fahrenheit but will be happy to convert to celcius...Is it intense?

Hot is a relative term!! In comparison to Death Valley, it is cool, in comparison to the normal UK summer, it is hot.
Last July it got up to 38c in places, but there was always a breeze, and the humidity was low. In terms of the Camino, it can seem very hot crossing the Meseta between Burgos and Leon and you need to carry more water than normal as the villages are further apart.
When it is hot, sensible pilgrims start early and finish walking early. If you start at first light and finish at 2pm you will be fine. You do not want to be tramping across the Meseta at 4pm cos it seems hotter than Hell.
A wide brim hat and a high factor sun cream are essential.![]()
I didn't find the heat too bad. i always used a hat, and if I was still walking through mid-day I would take a break in a cafe for an hour or two.
The weather is just part of one of the many challenges.
Why do I keep walking when driving is faster?
