Exclamation walking 9-12 days - which route?

Hi everyone :-)

Hope for some help here. I want to do walk to Santiago de Compostella, and I would love to do the whole camino (either one, really, although el Camino Frances is the most popular). The thing is I'll only have 9 days to walk on (I can't get more than 2 weeks off from work).

Where should I start from? Though I might not be able to walk a whole route, the most important thing for me is to get to Santiago de Compostella by foot. I'm in good shape, 23 years old, girl. Of course, it would also be great if a short 9-12 days route could be done in some of the most beautiful parts of Spain.

Hope some of you will be able to help me out, I'd be very greatful! Thank you!

Greetings, E.

To end up in Santiago you could either start at Ponferrada and walk through to Santiago, or start at Sarria, walk to Santiago and then out to Finesterre.

Either way, you should fly in to Santiago, and for Ponferrada you get the airport bus to Santiago Bus Station and then catch the ALSA coach to Ponferrada.

For Sarria you catch the coach from the airport to Lugo, and then change to the local bus to Sarria.

I'm walking from Ponferrada to Santiago. It's about 210km. Hope to do it in one week tops. When are you leaving ? If I return before you leave, I can let you know if it's possible to do it in one week.

The length of time you have is hardly enough time to adjust to the different mind set a journey requires. That said, a taste will have you wanting to come back for more. I recommend you multiply the distance you can probably walk in a day by 10, count back the distance in your guide book and start there, probably around Ponferatta or Leon. Pack, light, (3 days clothes) use liner socks, and pace yourself.
