    Red face help...

Hi everyone, it feels nice being here..I am a new user who decided to walk El Camino and really looks forward to it. But I am a rather unexperienced traveller so I would really appreciate some help with useful info..The first thing I would like to know is the minimum amount of money needed along the road, because I have quite limited resources.. Maybe it's a stupid question, but is there any possibility to work along the way, in case I run out of "fuel"?
I would also like to know what to expect from the weather in June? Is it rainy?

Thanks a lot in advance..All the best to everybody, and keep light at heart! Love, J.

    Hi Jukka

Most people have told me that you can easily survive on 20 euro a day out there, to include accomodation and food/water etc.. i'm going for 13 days and plan on bringing 400 euro just to be on the safe side but i'm assuming i'll come home with some spare change..

I am commening my Camino this week and am also very nervous like you. I'm not an experienced traveller either but am just trying to keep an open mind, i think this is important. The entire route seems to be entirely set up for pilgrims, so there should not be any problems. I have heard also that even if you arrive at a hostel or albergue that are full, they will allow you sleep on the floor- so at least you know you will at all times have a roof over your head.. however if you arrive early there will be no problem getting a bed (i hope)

Very best of luck with you camino.!

If you keep to the official hostels and albergues they will cost no more than 6/7 euro per night.

An evening meal will cost less than 10 euro, if you eat the pilgrim menu which is available in most towns.

The first time I walked I spent about 15 euro per day - the second time because I had more money I spent about 25 per day.

Keeping the costs down means watching what you spend on food - it is the main cost along the way - money can bleed away drinking coffee or a coke at every town, and those single euros add up.

I would sometime have bought muesli bars six at a time and have a couple them for breakfast. Buying some bread, cheese, meet, and fruit from a shop is the best way to do lunch - money or not. Some days I was too lazy and would just buy some bread and tuna and have that for lunch - I lost a lot of weight on the Camino - about 14 lbs each time, and not because I was trying, but that was a nice side effect.

After meeting up with some people we cooked communal diners together, a very cheap way to eat at night and a great way to get to know people.

Almost every day there are shops where you can buy food as you go along - there is the odd day or two where you have to be prepared in advance.
