Default Questions on the Journey for ages 20-30

My name is KC and I am planning on walking the camino in September with a friend of mine. I just have a few questions about the trip if anyone has any advice. We are both 20, and I was wondering how many people around our age ever go on the trip. Also, what types of activities go on at night? Is the trip coordinated with a big group, or do you sign up with a big group?

WE walked last spring and I plan to walk again next spring, 2011. While we are in our 50s we saw lots of younger people. Mostly perigrinos were either, your age, just finished university and taking some time off or they were our age retired, semi retired or able to take a significant time off work. While you may join a tour group your best bet is to get your credential, travel to where you wish to start and start walking. As for night life, we did not see much, young people did party it up at the wonderful alburgue in Burgeos but I can remember nothing else. After walking all day you will find you are more inclined to want to clean up, do your laundry, drink some wine, have dinner and explore the community. enjoy

In 2008 a number of us had kind of bonded together along the way. There was Ludo who was a Hungarian composer (45) and brilliant organist, Mimi (26) Polish and a paramedic, Yours Truly (60) Camino Grandfather et all, and Tray (18) from Boise in the USA. We walked and ate together for about 10 days and had great fun. Tray was on his first trip outside the States and suffered from looking younger than 18, so Ludo or I had to buy his beers in the supermarket!

It is strange that on the Camino you often see "the youngsters" walking with "The Olds" and chattering away. On the Camino, nobody could really care less who or what you are in real life, because on the Camino, young or old, male or female, rich or poor, every morning we pull on our boots, hoist the pack and set off on another days adventure.

The night life consists of trying to find a decent meal, have a glass or two and a laugh with your companions and then the nightly ritual of inspecting the damage to the soles of your feet!! No disco dancing on the Camino, although Mimi and Tray got fairly wasted at a rock concert in Leon one night.

KC is not your age that matters, is yourself.
    Walk and you will walk,
    laugh and you will laugh,
    listen to yourself and walk.
Friends will be made along the way,
    just be honest to yourself
