Rabanal del Camino, Spain
I have just put up a blog post from a Hospitalero, (Richard Baldwin).
Worth reading, I talked to quite a few along the route who like this took time from their life and volunteered to help - most are worth their weight in gold.

Re: Rabanal del Camino, Spain
The older I get the more the creature of habit I become. Each year I stop the night in Rabanal but never at the large albergue, but at the Albergue El Tesin which is the first bar/albergue on the way in to Rabanal. I think the British Confraternity of St James runs the large albergue as I cannot imagine anyone else having the nice thought to serve afternoon tea.
Rabanal is a strange place with many places to stay and the "new" bar/restaurant on the left as you exit the village at the top of the street serves the cheapest gin and tonic in Spain. A G&T cost me €11 in Logrono and €3.50 in Rabanal

Makes me wonder about myself. Twice I have walked and both times stayed in this albergure, I kinda like the talk in English at some point when it is the first language of both people. And they serve a good breakfast...

Re: Rabanal del Camino, Spain
Thanks for the info Lelie and Covey. That's one of my planned stops. Afternoon tea and gin and tonic are soooo me!
Cheers Tanya
