I wanted to share with all on the Forum the most amazing discovery in Santiago at the Museo del Peregrinacion. As you may know, this is the museum a few blocks NE of the Santiago Cathedral that houses a collection of pilgrim artifacts from the ages.

Beginning July 21 the museum has hosted a slideshow of six major Camino routes through Europe. A slideshow is usually not a particularly big deal, but what makes this one special is that the photographer and producer, Gabriel Diaz, took a photo every 11 steps as he walked these six Caminos. He's strung them together into a simultaneous animation-like slideshow of the six Caminos. For anyone who's walked one or more of the Caminos it's quite surprising to go over every inch of these journeys and see the places walked.

The show is currently in Santiago and is also showing at:

Pamplona Cathedral
Burgos Royal Monaster of Las Huelgas
Oviedo Cathedral
Salamanca Domus artium DA2
Leon Roya Collegiate Church of San Isidro
and in March to May 2011 it will be heading to Paris (Tour de St Jacques), London (St James Church), Rome (Spanish National Church of Santiago and Montserrat)

The Caminos depicted are:
Camino Frances (SJPP to Santiago)
Camino Via de la Plata (Seville to Santiago)
Camino del Norte (Irun to Santiago)
Le Puy to SJPP (France)
Nuremberg to Geneva (Germany/Switzerland)
Maastricht to Vezelay (Netherlands/France)

At 1 photo per 11 steps, it takes about 20 minutes to see a whole day, but if you miss the Camino and want to relive the experience (and can get to one of these cities) you'll find a treat in store for you. FYI here's an article about the exhibit from the Pamplona newspaper El Camino de Santiago visto por Gabriel D (sorry, it's in Spanish only).
