Default Blisters, how to prevent and how to treat?

What is the best way to prevent blisters? And once you have one, what is the best step to take to treat it? Is it a good idea to put a large bandage on the heel and toes you think might be a problem before you begin walking as a preventive measure? Would also like to hear from people as to what they lubricate their feet with, and what socks are better, the wool ones or the cotton ones that dry quickly?

    Smile preventing blisters

Thank you Douglas for the great advise on the duct tape. I am leaving on Sat to begin the camino (at Sarria ) and have it packed !
Good luck Rita on your trip. When are you travelling?
