Default First time on the Camino

We are a group of norwegian who is planning to walk for 5 days, and minimum 100km in end of march. Is there somenone who can recommend where to start walking from? We are in the area of Ferrol before the walk.

Hi Endrey and welcome to the Forum. Most people with 5 days available will walk the last 100 kms to Santiago via the Camino Frances beginning at the town of Sarria in Galicia. Another option is to start at Ourense in Galicia and walk the last 100 kms of the quieter Via de la Plata. Either way you'll qualify for your completion certificates as full-fledged pilgrims.

I did the last portion of the Via de la Plata this year and liked the scenery and albergues between Ourense and Santiago. There are fewer options for albergues, but there are also many fewer pilgrims. You would want to check to make certain the albergues are open in March on this route. The approach to Santiago is via the south east, so you do avoid the long walk along the airport this way. On the other hand, the walk from Sarria to SDC in my opinion is pretty pleasant and in March it will not be overly crowded.

    Hope this helps. Buen camino!
