Left Luggage
My daughter and I are walking the Camino in February and she is remaining in
Europe afterwards. Where can we leave her non-Camino luggage while we are walking?
Thanks!

Re: Left Luggage
Hi Terry ~
Thanks for your note and welcome to the Forum. It's a little hard to answer your question without knowing more details about your journey.
1) Where are you starting? If it is at a major hotel in a large city the folks at the desk will have ideas for you and perhaps, depending on length of your journey, be willing to store the luggage for her.
2) Where does she hope to end up? One possibility would be to ship it ahead via UPS or some equivalent service so that it's there for her when she needs it. If it's to a private family or a hotel you could make arrangements for them to store it until she's ready to pick it up.
Not sure this is any help, but if you want to send more details of the timing and locations I'm sure I or others would be happy to help.
All the best to you ~

Re: Left Luggage
Thanks for your response Sandy! She has been working on an organic farm near Rome and will meet me in Madrid at the train station (I'm playing into Madrid from the US). We have a little more than three weeks, then taking the train to Burgos and walking to Santiago de Compostella from there. We will then return by train to Madrid for my flight, and she will take train and ferry back to Italy. Not sure she will be on same farm though. I guess question was especially, where to leave luggage in Madrid. Maybe stay a night in an inexpensive hotel just to be able to leave her luggage?
Thanks! all best- Terry

Re: Left Luggage
Barajas Airport in Madrid has left luggage facilities in Terminals T1 and T2. Here's what a Google search says:
There are three left-luggage offices at the airport: the first in T1, the second in T2 and the third in T4. All baggage left at the left-luggage office passes through an x-ray checkpoint to verify that they do not contain dangerous items or objects.
Price for locker rental: part or whole of one day*, €3.70 (large and small locker); from two to fifteen days: large locker, €4.78; small locker €3.72. Storage from day fifteen on: 1,91. Transfer to the warehouse: €38.19 Special baggage €4.78.
There are lockers specifically designed to deposit large objects such as bicycles, surfboards, etc.
To use the left-luggage office:
* Request the key from the desk personnel. You must show your passport or identity card.
* Get a token from the vending machine (it takes coins and notes).
* Pass your baggage through the security scanner.
* Open the locker by turning the key in the direction shown, put your baggage inside and close the door.
* Enter the token in the slot and close with key. Keep your key, it is your evidence of deposit.
Information telephone: 913 936 805.
* All or part of a day: 24 hours from the time the item is deposited. It is charged per periods of 24 hours.
