Default Cycling the Camino de Santiago !! HELP NEEDED PLEASE

    Hello 'Forum'.

My name is Anand Mavani, and I am soon about to embark on a huge lifelong dream to cycle across Europe and complete the Camino de Santiago... I am cycling through the French Alpes along 'the grande tour des alpes', and then subsequently, I shall cycle through southern spain to join the Camino.

I was hoping to get some advice, and a friend kindly pointed out this forum to me. I am looking for advice on routes from France, across the Pyrenees hopefully, and I am also seeking some advice on accommodation, whether camping for example is an option along the journey.

I have browsed the internet looking at routes from France, and I just wished to hear some personal opinions from people who may have cycled, or walked, and could recommend/advise me from their experiences! I am looking to gain the most from the journey, meeting others, seeing the sights along the way, and learning about new cultures!

Any guidance would be kindly appreciated! And hopefully I get the opportunity to meet some of you along the way!

    Warm regards.

    Anand Mavani

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Re camping, I would not plan on camping in Spain along the Camino. Firstly there are not a great amount of campsites and I think staying in the pilgrims hostels is a better option - you get a more comfertable bed and get to meet and talk to more pilgrims.

There is a map of the camino routes on this page - Camino Maps - Camino de Santiago Maps - Camino Frances Map and here El Camino Santiago - Interactive Google Map for El Camino Aragon the second page show the route from Somport which might be a better route for you - one I have walked - it is quieter than the St Jean pass but joins the main Camino Frances route at Puente la Reina I think. Puente la Reina to Estella Day 5 on the Camino Frances
