    Default Cat, camper and trail?

    Hello
I was wondering if it would be feasable for me to walk all or part of the trail by going out and back to my camper and then driving the camper to the point I had reached. My problem is I have an elderly cat and cannot for various reasons leave her behind.
If this is not a good trail for this could anyone suggest a route?
Thank you for any help. I will have 3 months from June to mid september to walk.
    Tak

Hi Tak, and welcome to the Forum. What an interesting idea. One important question: how will your cat remain cool in the camper while you're out walking? I'd be worried that the temps will be pretty high in your camper while she's awaiting your return. There are some stretches of the Camino where there's not much shade available to stay cool (or in which to park a camper). The June to Sept period you've chosen is hottest of all -- and I mean very hot. Not sure your little sweetie would survive a day in a blazing hot camper.

If the cooling issue can be worked out somehow I don't see why this wouldn't work. Obviously your progress would be very slow since you're walking double the distance in most cases. You'll find that the Camino sometimes takes the long way around to avoid highways, but you could cut time by walking along the road when necessary). Another challenge would be to find places to park your camper overnight where you won't be disturbed by the authorities. The Camino goes through several large cities, which I'd guess would be hardest. I'm thinking you might often find yourself searching for a campsite after each long day of walking . . . . which would be a discouraging.

I can't think of other places where this would work, except for the typical day hike where you go somewhere and come back to the same location. There are lots of great mountain hikes out there. Since you have the summer and hot sun will likely be an issue perhaps you should head to the cool mountains instead?

The other problem is the transport of animals across borders. Depending on where you (and the cat!) live, means that some countries will have regulations regarding the vaccinations for animals. Spain is in the European rabies zone, so be careful about the rules.

Bring an animal in to the UK without the correct paperwork and vaccinations AND veterinary inspection, and your pet will be put down.
